In order to meet the growing requirements of private and commercial users,
ABUS provides a large product range of innovative security solutions in the areas of security at home, mobile security and commercial security.
Initial situation
ABUS intends to optimize the creation, publication and maintenance process
as well as the visualization of company and product information in some areas.
For this purpose a two-hour discussion between representatives of ABUS and Torsten Mühlhoff took place
to describe the actual state and the significant future needs.
Since the year 1995, ABUS uses among others, the software solution "PowerPoint" by Microsoft as an editorial and visualization tool
to present content such as company and product information to different groups of employees and customers in a simple manner.
Since its introduction the utilization of the solution has been constantly expanded and now covers the sales, marketing and product management.
Optimization of the creation, publication and maintenance process
as well as the visualization of company and product information
Meanwhile the existing solution environment with its relevant processes encounters certain limitations,
which led to think about fundamental changes in the creation, publication and maintenance process.
An optimized solution environment must meet the requirement to support at least most of the benefits of the existing solution environment
and beyond to address as many of the discussed areas for improvement.
All deliberations are also subject to the criteria of efficiency (reasonable cost / benefit ratio)
and effectiveness (high degree of target achievement).
Particularly in terms of efficiency, synergies with other ongoing initiatives or existing system solutions are to be considered.
Concept development
Just a few days after the initial meeting Torsten Mühlhoff transmitted to ABUS a requirements document,
which documented the as-is state of the existing solution environment with its advantages and disadvantages.
The approval of the document by ABUS and the commissioning of consulting services
in the evaluation phase of the project "Optimization of the creation, publication and maintenance process
as well as the visualization of company and product information of ABUS August Bremicker Söhne KG"
was followed by the evaluation and elaboration of solutions involving potential solution providers in the German and US area.
There were, inter alia, conference calls and on-site appointments in Dusseldorf and Cologne on the agenda.
After a short time the basic concept with concrete solution approaches could be transmitted to ABUS.
As part of a subsequent workshop in which the preferred approach was examined carefully together with the solution provider,
the basis for the implementation of the project could be established.
